Vacheron Constantin is expanding its esteemed Overseas collection with the introduction of the Dual Time Cardinal Points series, a development that brings sophisticated travel functionality to the forefront. Since its reimagining in 2016, the Overseas line has seen various iterations, but a dedicated second-time-zone complication was notably integrated in 2018. This newest iteration further refines that concept, drawing inspiration from adventure and the spirit of global exploration. The watches now boast a complete titanium construction, combining durability with a refined aesthetic, and are presented with four novel dial colors, each representing a cardinal direction.
This latest collection maintains the recognizable design elements and proportional elegance of the Overseas Dual Time, featuring a 41mm diameter case and a slim 12mm profile. The integration of titanium across both the case and the bracelet marks a significant evolution, enhancing wearability and resilience. The meticulous finishing, a hallmark of the Overseas series, beautifully juxtaposes brushed and polished surfaces. The distinctive six-sided bezel, reminiscent of the Maltese cross, is rendered in a subtle matte anthracite-grey, a shade also applied to the crown and pusher ring. Equipped with a screw-down crown and robust sapphire crystals, the watch ensures water resistance up to 150 meters, underscoring its readiness for diverse environments.
The centerpiece of these timepieces is the series of four dial colors, each thoughtfully chosen to embody a cardinal point and its associated natural panorama. White conjures images of the arctic North, brown mirrors the vast continental plains of the South, green reflects the dense foliage of the West, and blue captures the expansive horizon where the sea meets the sky in the East. These richly textured dials feature a finely grained central area to minimize glare, complemented by a snailed date subdial at the 6 o'clock position, which is synchronized with local time and easily adjusted via a dedicated pusher. The concentric rings, including a satin-finished minute track and a lacquered outer track, enhance readability. Luminous 18k white gold hour markers and hands for local time glow with blue Super-LumiNova, while the home time hand and AM/PM indicator are distinctly colored in bright orange for immediate recognition.
Powering this collection is the in-house manufactured automatic Calibre 5110 DT/3, an evolution of the 5110 DT movement introduced in 2018. This movement, composed of 234 components, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a substantial power reserve of approximately 60 hours. Adhering to the stringent standards of the Geneva Seal, the movement showcases exquisite decorative finishing, visible through the sapphire caseback, including Geneva stripes on the bridges and polished bevels. A 22k gold oscillating weight, adorned with a wind-rose engraving, further exemplifies the brand's commitment to horological artistry. Each watch is presented with an integrated titanium bracelet featuring an "Easy-fit" micro-adjustment system, alongside two additional rubber straps—one in vibrant orange with a Maltese-cross motif and another matching the dial color with an orange-stitched woven texture, all secured with interchangeable titanium folding clasps. Priced at CHF 33,700, these watches are available exclusively through Vacheron Constantin boutiques. The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time Cardinal Points collection embodies the spirit of exploration and precision, reflecting a harmonious blend of technical excellence and inspired design. These watches serve as a testament to the brand's enduring legacy of crafting instruments that accompany adventurers through every journey, fostering a connection with the world's diverse landscapes and the passage of time across them.
