These new services directly address the growing demand for convenient cross-border travel. Park & Fly allows eligible GBA residents to drive to HKIA, park their vehicles, and proceed to their flights without undergoing Hong Kong immigration procedures. Similarly, Park & Visit offers the same streamlined self-drive parking experience for those entering Hong Kong for business or leisure. Horace Chan, General Manager, Landside, AAHK, highlighted that these services enhance convenience for motorists and reinforce HKIA's position as a crucial hub for the GBA.
A major hurdle to improving HKIA accessibility for GBA drivers was regulatory restrictions, particularly for those without dual-plate vehicle registration or a Hong Kong driving license. AAHK collaborated with authorities in Guangdong, Macao, and Hong Kong to enact policy changes, exempting registered users from these prior requirements. This policy breakthrough, combined with the development of fully automated parking facilities, featuring 1,800 spaces and comprehensive digital processes, has created a practical and efficient cross-boundary travel experience.
