Retired professional cyclist Thibaut Pinot is offering a unique opportunity for one family to stay at his farm in Mélisey, France, completely free of charge, during this summer's Tour de France. This special initiative is a collaboration between Pinot and Airbnb, a partner of the prestigious cycling event.
The exclusive package includes a three-night stay from July 16-19, coinciding with stage 13 of the Tour de France passing through Pinot's hometown on July 17. Guests will enjoy a welcome barbecue hosted by Pinot, a scenic bike ride, a relaxing lakeside picnic, and VIP access to the team paddock on the day of the Tour stage. A highlight of the experience is a helicopter ride with Pinot himself, offering a breathtaking view of the race.
Pinot, who concluded his 14-year professional career with Groupama-FDJ at the end of 2023, is deeply rooted in his home region. Throughout his cycling career, he maintained a hobby farm with goats, sheep, and cows, which has now become his full-time passion. He expressed his pride in opening his doors to share the beauty of Mélisey and demonstrate that the countryside offers just as much charm as any other destination.
This farm stay is part of Airbnb's broader program of unique Tour de France experiences, celebrating their second year of partnership with the race. Other offerings include riding a portion of the Tour route with former pro Pierre Rolland, joining a group ride with 1995 Vuelta a España winner Laurent Jalabert, and dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris. The booking for Pinot's farm stay will open on June 19, and due to its limited availability, it will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with guests responsible for their own transportation to the farm.
Thibaut Pinot's transition from a celebrated athlete to an agricultural enthusiast embodies a profound connection to nature and community. By sharing his home and passion, he not only offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience for cycling fans but also inspires a deeper appreciation for rural life and the values of heritage and authenticity. His initiative serves as a heartwarming reminder that success can lead to fulfilling endeavors beyond the competitive arena, fostering positive connections between individuals and the environments they cherish.
