A Fusion of Talent and Cultural Pride
Benny Blanco's New Cumbia Offering
Celebrated producer Benny Blanco recently launched his new song, "Te Olvido (La La)," providing a glimpse into his highly anticipated album, *Hermoso*. For this project, Blanco collaborated with two dynamic artists, Selena Gomez and Becky G, who infuse the Spanish-language track with their distinct energy and Chicana heritage.
The Lyrical Heart of "Te Olvido (La La)"
Becky G's powerful vocals drive the chorus, delivering lines that translate to: "Tell me if we are or we aren't, I'm asking you / So I can decide if I love you or forget you." Selena Gomez also contributes a verse entirely in Spanish, building on her previous successful Spanish-language ventures, such as her 2021 album, *Revelación*.
A Visual Celebration of Chicano Culture
The song is accompanied by an energetic music video, helmed by director Stillz, known for his work with artists like Bad Bunny and Rosalia, and produced by Estevan Oriol. The visual narrative is rich with symbols of Chicano culture, including classic lowriders and sparkling Lady of Guadalupe statues. Veteran Mexican-American actor Danny Trejo also makes an appearance, joining Becky G in a lively street party scene.
Blanco's Expanding Latin Music Portfolio
While Benny Blanco is recognized for his contributions to pop music, his journey into Latin music is not new. Last autumn, he co-produced Netón Vega’s album *Delirium*. In 2019, he collaborated with Tainy, J Balvin, and Selena Gomez on the bilingual hit "I Can’t Get Enough." His upcoming album, *Hermoso*, is scheduled for release on August 14.
