Austin FC officially announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Jorge Alastuey to a senior squad agreement on Friday. This new deal secures Alastuey's presence with the team until the conclusion of the 2026 season, with additional club options for the 2027 and 2028 campaigns.
Alastuey, at 23 years old, conveyed his excitement and appreciation for the club's support and confidence in his abilities. Having experienced his initial Major League Soccer match earlier this season under a temporary arrangement, he expressed a strong desire to continue developing his skills and assist the team in achieving its objectives for the current season. Interim head coach Davy Arnaud commended Alastuey's exceptional and consistent displays with Austin FC II, noting his impressive contributions whenever he trained or played with the main squad. Since January 2025, Alastuey has been a prolific scorer for Austin FC II in 39 MLS NEXT Pro appearances, tallying 19 goals and providing eight assists. His MLS debut occurred on March 14 against Real Salt Lake, and he earned his first start on April 22 when facing the San Jose Earthquakes.
This promotion signifies a promising future for both Jorge Alastuey and Austin FC. His hard work, dedication, and impactful performances have deservedly earned him a place on the first team, illustrating that perseverance and talent are recognized and rewarded in professional sports. This move not only strengthens the team's roster but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring young athletes within the club's development system.
